Studio A-1

Studio A-1 are a anime animation company based in Suginami, Tokyo, Japan. As of 2014, there are only 152 employees, making this a relatively small studio compared to the likes of Gallop, who is most well known for creating the amazing series Yu-Gi-Oh!. The company itself was founded 13 years ago, in May 9th 2005. The studio was founded by an ex-Sunrise producer Mikihiro Iwata, a subsidiary of Sony. Even though the studio is relatively small with just 152 members, they have produced some of the most popular and well loved anime going. Such examples are Kuroshitsuji (Black Butler), Sword Art Online, Ao No Exorcist (Blue Exorcist) and Fairy Tail.

The reason why Studio A-1 Pictures has to be one of my favourite anime studios is because of how they treat their fans and how they can put so much heart and emotion into a drawing. Each one of the producers, animators, directors are very loving towards fans and will even stop to talk and take a picture, even if they are in a rush. As many people know, Japan is one of the biggest bustling countries in the world and working in Tokyo isn’t any different. The anime that they produce is very refined and everything is made exact and perfect before going out to the general public. Each anime they produce has a very distinct style, giving their animations a large and varied range of depths, characters, stories and there is always a character for people to relate to. No matter how obscure or strange they maybe.

Each character they produce, voice and animate is done in such a distinct way that you could immediately recognise the studio that produced it. They also continuously bring out new anime with unique titles, stories, style and characters.

My favourite anime they have produced has to be Ao No Exorcist. Simply because everything about the anime is amazing. From the in depth characters, each with their own background and story to tell, the soundtrack to the anime is beautiful and can be extremely emotional when it needs to be. The animation itself is smooth, clean and it feels very real with the way they move whilst still sticking to that over exaggerated anime style everyone loves so much. The script is powerful and sends across a variety of messages about being and loving yourself, family and friendships and how to get through tough times that you see no way of getting through. Everyone out there in the world has a character to relate to. The story itself is also something very different from other anime. Whereas some anime take the same sort of ideas and storylines and out their own spin on it, Studio A-1 Pictures, took a completely unique idea and made it into a cult classic in the anime world.

Blue Exorcist is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Kazue Katō. The manga has been serialized in Jump Square magazine by Shueisha since April 2009, with individual chapters collected into twenty tankōbon volumes as of January 28, 2018
